Grant alert: Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund – Hazardous Waste (Solvents)

With grants of up to $6 million available, Sustainability Victoria is assisting local businesses to invest in the state-of-the-art infrastructure required to recycle hazardous liquid wastes and solvents.

UPDATE 18 March 2020: In light of recent events, the the due date for EOIs has been extended until Friday 8 May 2020 by 3pm. 

Businesses who are looking to increase their ability to recycle and reuse solvents, increase business output and create jobs are encouraged to apply to the fund.

The Opportunity

Under the Recycling Victoria Infrastructure Fund (RVIF), grants of up to $6,000,000 are available for businesses to fund up to 25% of the cost of solvent-recycling projects. Grant funds can be used to:

• Build, expand, or improve facilities to house recycling equipment;
• Purchase and commission chemical recycling equipment;
• Fund pre-construction activities, such as land-clearing.

Businesses that can demonstrate the following will be looked upon favourably:

• Principle and higher-order recovery of the hazardous solvents used in the production of paints, lacquers, varnish, resins, ink, dyes, and more;
• Experience in delivering projects of a similar scale;
• A growth strategy utilising the recycling project to increase production, create jobs, and reduce the hazardous liquid waste that would otherwise be directed to Victorian storage centres.

Who can apply?

Australian ABN holders based in Victoria that are looking to implement projects to divert hazardous liquid waste from Victorian landfills, waterways, and long-term storage are encouraged to apply.

Local governments, individuals, and registered not-for-profits are ineligible for this grant.

Application Process

The RVIF Hazardous Waste (Solvents) Grants will be allocated following a two stage competitive application process.

To be eligible, applicants must submit a Stage 1 Expression of Interest demonstrating the need for funding, outcomes of the project, and ability to complete the project prior to March 2024.

Expressions of interest must be submitted prior to the 3pm AEDT, 8 May 2020.

If successful, applicants will be invited to Stage 2, which requires the submission of a comprehensive business case and further details regarding the project management, outcomes, and requirements.

Funding is anticipated to commence from October 2020.
