Our people share their stories

Hear real experiences from our people who started at SW as a vacationer and are at different points in their career.

Rick Hemphill, Partner, Business & Private Client Advisory

“Starting as a vacationer in 2009, I didn’t have a defined roadmap—I just wanted a challenge and a great culture. SW provided the perfect environment for that evolution. From the social support that helped me through my CA, to the high-level mentoring that helped me find my niche, the firm has invested in me every step of the way.

Progressing to Partner in 2023 is a testament to the genuine growth opportunities available here if you’re willing to dive in.”

Laura Nield, Senior Consultant, Business & Private Client Advisory

“SW’s commitment to promoting a healthy work-life balance has not only allowed me to develop life-long connections both within and beyond the workplace but has also presented me with the platform to excel in diverse learning opportunities within my role from vacationer to graduate and has allowed me to progress in my career whilst being exposed to the dynamic world of business services. ”

Lucy Zhang, Graduate, Assurance and Advisory

My experience at SW as a vacationer was great, I felt welcomed and supported from day one. The culture is collaborative and inclusive, with approachable colleagues who are genuinely supportive of early-career development.

I was given meaningful work and real responsibilities, which helped me build confidence and develop practical skills. Overall, it opened my doors to professional work, allowed me to gain clarity in my early career direction to progress to the graduate program.”

Jocelyne Santoso, Consultant, Business & Private Client Advisory

Being part of the vacationer program was both rewarding and educational. SW has an outstanding culture—everyone is welcoming and inclusive, which makes it enjoyable to work alongside great colleagues. As part of the BPCA division, I was welcomed and given the opportunity to work on a variety of clients and tasks. With the support of my colleagues, I felt comfortable working independently and was not afraid to ask questions or seek help, knowing they were always willing to assist.

This supportive environment helped me become more confident and learn quickly. The program’s events, like the vacationer and manager panels and the End of Year Party, made it easier to connect and socialise with others, helping to build strong connections.”
