David Chu

Prior to joining SW, I spent 15 years with a Melbourne-based mid-market accounting firm. I established SW’s Australian business in 2008, bringing with me 30 years of professional experience gained across the Asia-Pacific region, including Australia, Hong Kong, and China. My clients include Australian subsidiaries of large Asian corporations, mid-market businesses in Australia, and high-net-worth individuals from Asia. I provide assistance with international business strategy and structuring, tax compliance, international tax structuring, and transaction advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions.

I work across a range of industries, including food and beverage, particularly the agribusiness sector, energy and resources, and property. I have served as Chair of the Asia-Pacific Board of an international accounting group ranked 21st globally. I am highly attuned to Asian listed-company markets, corporate regulations, and the requirements of various stock exchanges, and I am highly regarded in the marketplace.

I am active in community service. In Australia, I have served as National President of the Hong Kong Australia Business Association. I am currently a Board Member of the Australia China Business Council Victorian Chapter and a member of the Wesley College Asia Advisory Committee. In Hong Kong, I have served as President of the Hong Kong Society of Chinese Accountants & Auditors, Vice-Chair of the Hong Kong Branch of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators, and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of CPAs.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, I have been a regular presenter on SBS Radio’s Cantonese-language program, discussing Australian economic affairs.
