Since joining SW, I have become a trusted technical specialist, delivering innovative solutions across all areas of income tax law. I have deep and broad technical knowledge and an ability to quickly understand, apply, and retain complex legislation.

I joined SW in 2007 after spending four and a half years with the Australian Taxation Office. During my time at the ATO, I developed extensive expertise in international tax matters and became responsible for several high-profile audits involving foreign structures. I also gained significant familiarity with the ATO’s audit and dispute resolution processes and a first-hand understanding of its information-gathering powers. This experience has been invaluable in helping clients navigate various levels of ATO audit and examination.

I lead SW’s Financial Services Industry Group and work extensively with financial services clients, including ASX-listed and unlisted funds, fund managers, financial services platform operators, insurance providers, and insurance brokers.

While my tax and commercial knowledge is broad, I have a particular focus on corporate international tax. I regularly advise clients on the application of controlled foreign company rules, thin capitalisation, and Australia’s double tax treaty network. My knowledge in this area is well recognised within the industry, and I have authored several published articles on Australian international tax.

I have worked with numerous listed and unlisted corporate tax clients across the property funds management, manufacturing, and mining industries. Through this work, I have developed significant tax-effect accounting expertise, enabling me to contribute to the development of the firm’s Complete Tax Solutions software and, more importantly, collaborate with clients to meet their year-end reporting obligations.
